I grew up in Utah making skateboard videos, getting shot by airsoft pellets, and having my video games taken away on the weekly.
At some point I decided the best way to chase dollar bills was to become an engineer. After two years of locking myself in dark rooms for nine hours a day doing math problems, I decided it was time for a change (a nice way of saying I sucked at engineering) and I returned to my video roots and chased advertising.
Turns out, I still lock myself in dark rooms all day, but now it’s spent cutting videos. I’ve worked freelance, contract, and presently at the Utah Jazz as a full-time video editor.
Although I wasn’t “successful” at engineering, that part of my brain still influences my creativity. In fact, my capstone project was an analysis of editing trends in advertising over the last 30 years in order to predict future trends.
So that’s how I like to look at myself: the coalescence of art and science. I believe this awkward dance of disciplines is what makes me unique——it keeps me thirsty for learning and has made me a jack-of-all-trades content creator ready to help you in whatever way you need.
Let’s chat sometime or play video games. Whichever you prefer.
